Discovery Day
Running a successful project discovery day workshop
Last updated on November 21st, 2023
A discovery day is usually the first meeting that takes place on a project and signifies the beginning of ‘the work’. As well as being a valuable opportunity to build rapport between the client and the agency, the main objectives are to:
- Discover as much as possible about the project, including the business and user objectives as well as any known KPI’s.
- Gain a shared understanding of the approach to the project amongst all parties. This could include a review of the UX/UI processes and delivery methodology.
- Plan and agree on the next steps and the overall project timelines.
Some of the more specific details you might want to discuss include:
- An overview of current business objectives and product vision
- The short and long term requirements.
- Any known challenges.
- Any specific stakeholder objectives.
After the main discovery day you will likely want to run some in depth UX Review sessions and Technical workshops (Infrastructure Architecture, Technical Stack, Release Strategy, Migration Strategy and Integration Strategy).
