UX Case Study

Building the case for a new sports app

Last updated on December 16th, 2022

The Problem

With an abundance of TV channels (many of them sport specific) it can be difficult for sports fans to find the particular sports event they want to watch. One week a match could be shown on Sky Sports, the next it could be shown on the BBC.

The Goal

To design an app that will allow users to easily find what Digital channel is showing a specific sports event or sports team.

My Role

UX Research & UX Design

Research & Competitor Analysis

I undertook a period of research and competitor analysis. There was nothing on the market that already provided the service.

User Personas

I defined some user persona’s to understand who the key users of the app were, and what their current challenges were.

UX Design Process

Once the research phase had been completed I began the design phase. I began every task by sketching out a few ideas with pen and paper. Using this approach allowed me to document some initial ideas really quickly which could then be iterated on.

User Flows

I began the design phase by putting together user flows to validate various journeys through the app. For example ‘show me where Real Betis play’

Information Architecture

I put together the information architecture to show a clear relationship between the different website factors.

Wireframes

I mocked up the more detailed UX. I primarily used Sketch for this.
